Stefan 5b6f7226bb feat(wallet) extract json blobs and add custom migration support
Extended the migration process with a generic way of applying custom
migration code on top of the SQL files. The implementation provides
a safer way to run GO code along with the SQL migrations and possibility
of rolling back the changes in case of failure to keep the database
consistent.
This custom GO migration is needed to extract the status from
the JSON blob receipt and store it in transfers table.

Other changes:
- Add NULL DB value tracking to JSONBlob helper
- Index status column on transfers table
- Remove unnecessary panic calls
- Move log_parser to wallet's common package and use to extract token
  identity from the logs

Notes:
- there is already an index on transfers table, sqlite creates one for
each unique constraint therefore add only status to a new index
- the planned refactoring and improvements to the database have been
postponed due to time constraints. Got the time to migrate the data
though, extracting it can be done later for a more efficient
  implementation

feat(wallet): SequentialFetchStrategy improvements: (#3551)
- reverted a change that stopped looking for ERC20 transfers if no nonce
and balance change found within a block range for ETH
- implemented sending EventRecentHistoryReady event at a proper time
- moved EventFetchingRecentHistory event to Strategy type as it does not make
sense to send this event in loop
- moved iterating through blocks logic to inside of `loadTransfers` command, which
now accepts a block range.
- reuse `uniqueHeaders` function in commands.go
- clean up

Fix chats reseting when a Sync signal comes for communities (#3539)
* fix(community): stop re-joining comm when receiving a sync community msg

Fixes an issue with chats being reset. Since joining a community resaves the chats with the synced default value, it resets the sate of the chats, losing the unread messages, the muted state and more.
The solution is to block the re-joining of the community. In the case of the sync, we catch that error and just continue on.

* fix(import): fix HandleImport not saving the chat

Doesn't change much, but it could have caused issues in the future, so since we might have modified the chat, we make sure to save them
Also adds a test

Stefan e78a73bd9f feat(Wallet) complete the filter API
It uses the current data only and doesn't extend with new types or
include new features in activity sources DBs.

Major changes:
- Partially filter by chain IDs
- Partially filter by Status if it is the case
- Partially filter by token types
- Filter by counterparty addresses
- Use wallet accounts for TO/FROM instead of filters

Andrea Maria Piana 6acb34bab7 Allow setting up wallet with new config
This commit does a few things:

1) Extend create/import account endpoint to get wallet config, some of
which has been moved to the backend
2) Set up a loop for retrieving balances every 10 minutes, caching the
   balances
3) Return information about which checks are not passing when trying to
   join a token gated community
4) Add tests to the token gated communities
5) Fixes an issue with addresses not matching when checking for
   permissions

The move to the wallet as a background task is not yet complete, I need
to publish a signal, and most likely I will disable it before merging
for now, as it's currently not used by desktop/mobile, but the PR was
  getting to big

fix(desktop/wallet): fix bug in balance_cache - balances and nonces (#3509)
were stored in cache by pointers, which caused falsy cache hits in loop
because pointers with same address were created for different block
numbers. Now cache uses block numbers of uint64 as key, which can
overflow but it is not a problem since we use this cache for values
comparison, not as user data.
Fix crash on nil pointer in log.
Remove some unused code.
Protect nonceRanges with mutex while reading.

URL unfurling (initial implementation) (#3471)
This is the initial implementation for the new URL unfurling requirements. The
most important one is that only the message sender will pay the privacy cost for
unfurling and extracting metadata from websites. Once the message is sent, the
unfurled data will be stored at the protocol level and receivers will just
profit and happily decode the metadata to render it.

Further development of this URL unfurling capability will be mostly guided by
issues created on clients. For the moment in status-mobile:

### Terminology

In the code, I've tried to stick to the word "unfurl URL" to really mean the
process of extracting metadata from a website, sort of lower level. I use "link
preview" to mean a higher level structure which is enriched by unfurled data.
"link preview" is also how designers refer to it.

### User flows

1. Carol needs to see link previews while typing in the chat input field. Notice
from the diagram nothing is persisted and that status-go endpoints are
   essentially stateless.

3. The message was sent over waku and persisted locally in Carol's device. She
should now see the link previews in the chat history. There can be many link
previews shared by other chat members, therefore it is important to serve the

lots of big JSON payloads containing base64 encoded data URIs (maybe this
concern is meaningless for desktop). When a client is rendering messages with
link previews, they will have the field linkPreviews, and the thumbnail URL
will point to the local media server.

### Some limitations of the current implementation

The following points will become separate issues in status-go that I'll work on
over the next couple weeks. In no order of importance:

- Improve how multiple links are fetched; retries on failure and testing how
unfurling behaves around the timeout limits (deterministically, not by making
real HTTP calls as I did). https://github.com/status-im/status-go/issues/3498
- Unfurl favicons and store them in the protobuf too.
- For this PR, I added unfurling support only for websites with OpenGraph
https://ogp.me/ meta tags. Other unfurlers will be implemented on demand. The
next one will probably be for oEmbed https://oembed.com/, the protocol
  supported by YouTube, for example.
- Resize and/or compress thumbnails (and favicons). Often times, thumbnails are
huge for the purposes of link previews. There is already support for
compressing JPEGs in status-go, but I prefer to work with compression in a
separate PR because I'd like to also solve the problem for PNGs (probably
convert them to JPEGs, plus compress them). This would be a safe choice for
thumbnails, favicons not so much because transparency is desirable.
- Editing messages is not yet supported.
- I haven't coded any artificial limit on the number of previews or on the size
of the thumbnail payload. This will be done in a separate issue. I have heard
the ideal solution may be to split messages into smaller chunks of ~125 KiB
because of libp2p, but that might be too complicated at this stage of the
  product (?).
- Link preview deletion.
- For the moment, OpenGraph metadata is extracted by requesting data for the
English language (and fallback to whatever is available). In the future, we'll
want to unfurl by respecting the user's local device language. Some websites,
like GoDaddy, are already localized based on the device's IP, but many aren't.
- The website's description text should be limited by a certain number of
characters, especially because it's outside our control. Exactly how much has
not been decided yet, so it'll be done separately.
- URL normalization can be tricky, so I implemented only the basics to help with
caching. For example, the url https://status.im and HTTPS://status.im are
considered identical. Also, a URL is considered valid for unfurling if its TLD
exists according to publicsuffix.EffectiveTLDPlusOne. This was essential,
otherwise the default Go url.Parse approach would consider many invalid URLs
valid, and thus the server would waste resources trying to unfurl the
  unfurleable.

### Other requirements

- If the message is edited, the link previews should reflect the edited text,
not the original one. This has been aligned with the design team as well.
- If the website's thumbnail or the favicon can't be fetched, just ignore them.
The only mandatory piece of metadata is the website's title and URL.
- Link previews in clients should be generated in near real-time, that is, as
the user types, previews are updated. In mobile this performs very well, and
it's what other clients like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook do.

### Decisions

- While the user typing in the input field, the client is constantly (debounced)
asking status-go to parse the text and extract normalized URLs and then the
client checks if they're already in its in-memory cache. If they are, no RPC
call is made. I chose this approach to achieve the best possible performance
in mobile and avoid the whole RPC overhead, since the chat experience is
already not smooth enough. The mobile client uses URLs as cache keys in a
hashmap, i.e. if the key is present, it means the preview is readily available
(naive, but good enough for now). This decision also gave me more flexibility
to find the best UX at this stage of the feature.
- Due to the requirement that users should be able to see independent loading
indicators for each link preview, when status-go can't unfurl a URL, it
doesn't return it in the response.
- As an initial implementation, I added the BLOB column unfurled_links to the
user_messages table. The preview data is then serialized as JSON before being
stored in this column. I felt that creating a separate table and the related
code for this initial PR would be inconvenient. Is that reasonable to you?
Once things stabilize I can create a proper table if we want to avoid this
kind of solution with serialized columns.

Stefan c020222f1b feat(Wallet): add activity filter api prototype
Add the possibility of retrieving the metadata of wallet activity based
on the given filter criteria.

Current implementation relies that after fetching the metadata, user
will follow up with more requests for details. However, after some
experimenting I'm considering extracting all required information
for the summary viewing while filtering. This way there will be no
need for another batch requests for transfers, multi-transactions and
pending transactions to show the summary. Only when user wants to see
the details for one will specifically request it.

For this first prototype, the filter criteria is limited to:
- time
- type
- addresses

Major changes:
- Add the filter definition to be used in propagating the filter
  information
- Add GetActivityEntries API to return the list of activity entries
for the given addresses/chainIDs by a view in the complete list
- GetTransfersForIdentities to batch retrieve further details of the
  transfers
- GetPendingTransactionsForIdentities to batch retrieve further details
  of the pending transactions
- Added a new package testutils for tests.
- Added tests

feat(wallet): refactor transfers to allow multiple transfer fetching (#3432)
strategies.

On mobile devices we might not want to load all transfers history
to avoid high internet traffic consumption or to save some space.
On desktop we will load all transfers in background.

- Moved current fetching transfers implementation to
OnDemandFetchStrategy
- Implemented QueuedAtomicGroup to cache outgoing commands above a
threshold
- Refactored some type names, methods for better clarity:
  - LastKnownBlock name was misused
  - Block renamed to BlockDAO to clarify what it does and avoid
confusion with geth Block type
- Cleanup - removed unused parameters and types' members
- Changed tests to use in memory DB for speedup
- Added more logging and comments

test: use `T.TempDir` to create temporary test directory (#2746)
This commit replaces `os.MkdirTemp` with `t.TempDir` in tests. The
directory created by `t.TempDir` is automatically removed when the test
and all its subtests complete.

Prior to this commit, temporary directory created using `os.MkdirTemp`
needs to be removed manually by calling `os.RemoveAll`, which is omitted
in some tests. The error handling boilerplate e.g.
	defer func() {
		if err := os.RemoveAll(dir); err != nil {
			t.Fatal(err)
		}
	}
is also tedious, but `t.TempDir` handles this for us nicely.

Pascal Precht 2cbced95c5 Check token funds when handling community requests to join
This adds checks to `HandleCommunityRequestToJoin` and
`AcceptRequestToJoinCommunity` that ensure a given user's revealed
wallet addresses own the token funds required by a community.

When community has token permissions of type `BECOME_MEMBER`, the
following happens when the owner receives a request:

1. Upon verifying provided wallet addresses by the requester, the owner
node accumulates all token funds related to the given wallets that
match the token criteria in the configured permissions
2. If the requester does not meet the necessary requirements, the
request to join will be declined. If the requester does have the
funds, he'll either be automatically accepted to the community, or
enters the next stage where an owner needs to manually accept the
   request.
3. The the community does not automatically accept users, then the funds
check will happen again, when the owner tries to manually accept the
request. If the necessary funds do not exist at this stage, the
   request will be declined
4. Upon accepting, whether automatically or manually, the owner adds the
requester's wallet addresses to the `CommunityDescription`, such that
they can be retrieved later when doing periodic checks or when
   permissions have changed.

Support soft deletion for activity center notifications (#3201)
Adds a new column named `deleted` to the table `activity_center_notifications`.

Related PR in Mobile https://github.com/status-im/status-mobile/pull/15106 for a lot more details of the feature.

Why? Relying on the `dismissed` column for soft deletion is no longer viable because the mobile & desktop clients should display dismissed notifications (sometimes), hence the need for a new column to truly represent soft deletion.

Stefan f4f6b25302 feat: convert history balance tokens to fiat
Add history.exchange sub-package with following responsibilities

- fetch and caches daily exchange rates for tokens
    - Partial update if missing form yesterday back
- Implement all time fetching special case
- Fetches the price of the token after merging entries for the selected
chains

history.service package changes

- Return ValuePoint instead of DataPoint
    - Value point contains the value in fiat as float64 instead
- Convert merged values from tokens balance (wei) to fiat

Other changes

- Move start/stop balance history to startWallet/stopWallet
- Move cryptocompare to thirdparty package to avoid recursive import
- Rename DataPoint.Value to DataPoint.Balance
- Don't merge entries for single chain

Andrea Maria Piana b69042e7d7 Fix duplicated notifications on receiving contact update
This commit fixes an issue where when accepting a contact request
the other end would display an extra notification.

It also changes WaitOnResponse to collect results. This should make
tests less flaky, since sometimes messages are processed in different
batches.
Now we need to be though exact on what we expect from the response (i.e
use == instead of >, otherwise the same behavior applies)
This uncovered a couple of issues with messenger.Merge, so I have moved
the struct to use a map based collection instead of an array.

Both functions `DeleteAccount` and `AddMigratedKeyPair` require password to be provided

Password parameter can be also an empty string, since there are cases when an account is

Stefan a2ff03c79e feat: retrieve balance history for tokens and cache it to DB
Extends wallet module with the history package with the following
components:

BalanceDB (balance_db.go)

- Keeps track of balance information (token count, block, block timestamp)
for a token identity (chain, address, currency)
- The cached data is stored in `balance_history` table.
- Uniqueness constrained is enforced by the `balance_history_identify_entry`
UNIQUE index.
- Optimal DB fetching is ensured by the `balance_history_filter_entries`
index

Balance (balance.go)

- Provides two stages:
    - Fetch of balance history using RPC calls (Balance.update function)
    - Retrieving of cached balance data from the DB it exists (Balance.get
    function)
- Fetching and retrieving of data is done for specific time intervals
    defined by TimeInterval "enumeration"
- Update process is done for a token identity by the Balance.Update function
- The granularity of data points returned is defined by the constant
increment step define in `timeIntervalToStride` for each time interval.
- The `blocksStride` values have a common divisor to have cache hit
between time intervals.

Service (service.go)

- Main APIs
    - StartBalanceHistory: Regularly updates balance history for all
enabled networks, available accounts and provided tokens.
    - GetBalanceHistory: retrieves cached token count for a token identity
(chain, address, currency) for multiple chains
    - UpdateVisibleTokens: will set the list of tokens to have historical
balance fetched. This is a simplification to limit tokens to a small
    list that make sense

Fetch balance history for ECR20 tokens

- Add token.Manager.GetTokenBalanceAt to fetch balance of a specific
block number of ECR20.
- Add tokenChainClientSource concrete implementation of DataSource
to fetch balance of ECR20 tokens.
- Chose the correct DataSource implementation based on the token
"is native" property.

Tests

Tests are implemented using a mock of `DataSource` interface used
to intercept the RPC calls.

Notes:

- the timestamp used for retrieving block balance is constant

feat: Support fetching accepted Activity Center notifications by multiple types (#3088)
Summary
=======

- [x] Changes endpoint ActivityCenterNotificationsBy to support fetching
multiple types of notification in a single query.
- [x] Adds endpoint UnreadAndAcceptedActivityCenterNotificationsCount to
allow the mobile client to fetch the count of unread & accepted
  notifications.
- [x] Add `golangci-lint` to Nix shell. This was possible since PR
  https://github.com/status-im/status-go/pull/3087 was merged.

Notes
=====

- If you'd like to understand why these changes are needed, please see
  the mobile PR https://github.com/status-im/status-mobile/pull/14785,
  or issue https://github.com/status-im/status-mobile/issues/14712
- All changes should be completely backwards compatible, and there
should be no impact for the desktop app.
- The mobile client has been already tested using this branch.

enough to capture the first channel message.

For existing communities admin determines first message timestamp by
finding oldest chat message in its local database.

Issue #5982
2022-08-08 10:33:38 +02:00
Pascal Precht 9c568c58cf feat: introduce messenger APIs to extract discord channels
As part of the new Discord <-> Status Community Import functionality,
we're adding an API that extracts all discord categories and channels
from a previously exported discord export file.

These APIs can be used in clients to show the user what categories and
channels will be imported later on.

There are two APIs:

1. `Messenger.ExtractDiscordCategoriesAndChannels(filesToimport
   []string) (*MessengerResponse, map[string]*discord.ImportError)`

This takes a list of exported discord export (JSON) files (typically one per
channel), reads them, and extracts the categories and channels into
dedicated data structures (`[]DiscordChannel` and `[]DiscordCategory`)

It also returns the oldest message timestamp found in all extracted
   channels.

The API is synchronous and returns the extracted data as
a `*MessengerResponse`. This allows to make the API available
   status-go's RPC interface.

The error case is a `map[string]*discord.ImportError` where each key
is a file path of a JSON file that we tried to extract data from, and
the value a `discord.ImportError` which holds an error message and an
error code, allowing for distinguishing between "critical" errors and
   "non-critical" errors.

2. `Messenger.RequestExtractDiscordCategoriesAndChannels(filesToImport
   []string)`

This is the asynchronous counterpart to
`ExtractDiscordCategoriesAndChannels`. The reason this API has been
added is because discord servers can have a lot of message and
channel data, which causes `ExtractDiscordCategoriesAndChannels` to
block the thread for too long, making apps potentially feel like they
   are stuck.

This API runs inside a go routine, eventually calls
`ExtractDiscordCategoriesAndChannels`, and then emits a newly
   introduced `DiscordCategoriesAndChannelsExtractedSignal` that clients
   can react to.

Failure of extraction has to be determined by the
   `discord.ImportErrors` emitted by the signal.

**A note about exported discord history files**

We expect users to export their discord histories via the
[DiscordChatExporter](https://github.com/Tyrrrz/DiscordChatExporter/wiki/GUI%2C-CLI-and-Formats-explained#exportguild)
tool. The tool allows to export the data in different formats, such as
JSON, HTML and CSV.

We expect users to have their data exported as JSON.

Pascal Precht f3af6aa4dc feat: introduce `AddBookmark` and `RemoveBookmark` APIs to messenger
These APIs are being introduced to address #2706 and #2704, provided
that clients will move to using these APIs instead of the currently
provided equivalent APIs in the browser service.

The `bookmarks` table is being extended with a `deleted_at` field which
can later be used for garbage collection, as "removing" a bookmark is
merely soft deletion and doesn't actually remove the data from the
database.

In addition to those APIs adding and soft deleting bookmark entries,
they also automatically perform a sync operation to ensure that
bookmarks are synced in real-time (#2704).

Get preferred network IP and refactor server package to increase reusability (#2626)
* Added function to get preffered network IP

Also done some refactor work oon server package to make a lot more reusable

* Added server.Option and simplified handler funcs

* Added serial number deterministically generated from pk

* Debugging TLS server connection

* Implemented configurable server ip

When accessing over the network the server needs to listen on the network port and not localhost or 127.0.0.1 . Also the cert can now have a dedicated IP

* Refactor of URL funcs to use the url package

* Removed redundant Options pattern in favour of config param

* Added full server test using GetOutboundIP

* Remove references and usage of Server.port

The application does not need to set the port, we rely on the net.Listener to pick a port.

* Version bump

* Added ToECDSA func and improved cert testing

* Added error check in test

* Split Server types, embedding raw Server funcs into specialised server types

* localhost

* Implemented DNS and IP based cert gen

ios doesn't allow for restricted ip addresses to be used in a valid tls cert

* Replace listener handling with original port store

Also added handlers as a parameter of the Server

Pascal Precht bf8e71cfa9 Introduce `CommunitySettings` to store community related settings
These are used to store settings for individual communities a
user is part of, either as member or as owner.
This included whether or not the community history archive protocol
is enabled.

This adds a new `CommunitySettings` type and adds
a migration script that introduces a new `communities_settings`
table.

It also extends the `MessengerResponse` type to include
`CommunitySettings` which are honored when communities are being
added, edited, joined or left.

Lastly, this adds a new RPC API to retreive the settings.

Pascal Precht 86926258ee Intrododuce `NodeConfig.TorrentConfig` and CLI flags
This commit introduces a new `TorrentConfig` as per #2563 with dedicated
default values and new options/flags for the status-go CLI.

Since it's part of `NodeConfig`, which is stored per user in the
database, this commit also adds a migration script that adds a new
`torrent_config` table and database APIs to insert and retreive the
torrent config.

Andrea Maria Piana d60a6713fe Enable mailserver cycle by default
This commit enables mailserver cycle logic by default and make a few
changes:

1) Nodes are graylisted instead of being blacklisted for a set amount of
time. The reason is that if we blacklist, any cut in connectivity
might result in long delays before reconnecting, especially on spotty
   connections.

2) Fixes an issue on the devp2p server, whereby the node would not
connect to one of the static nodes since all the connection slots
where filled. The fix is a bit inelegant, it always connects to
static nodes, ignoring maxpeers, but it's tricky to get it to work
since the code is clearly not written to select a specific node.

3) Adds support to pinned mailservers

4) Add retries to mailservers requests. It uses a closure for now, I
think we should eventually have a channel etc, but I'd leave that for
   later.

Anon Metrics Broadcast (#2198)
* Protobufs and adapters

* Added basic anon metric service and config init

* Added fibonacci interval incrementer

* Added basic Client.Start func and integrated interval incrementer

* Added new processed field to app metrics table

* Added id column to app metrics table

* Added migration clean up

* Added appmetrics GetUnprocessed and SetToProcessedByIDs and tests

There was a wierd bug where metrics in the db that did not explicitly insert a value would be NULL, so could not be found by . In addition I've added a new primary id field to the app_metrics table so that updates could be done against very specific metric rows.

* Updated adaptors and db to handle proto_id

I need a way to distinguish individual metric items from each other so that I can ignore the ones that have been seen before.

* Moved incrementer into dedicated file

* Resolve incrementer test fail

* Finalised the main loop functionality

* Implemented delete loop framework

* Updated adaptors file name

* Added delete loop delay and quit, and tweak on RawMessage gen

* Completed delete loop logic

* Added DBLock to prevent deletion during mainLoop

* Added postgres DB connection, integrated into anonmetrics.Server

* Removed proto_id from SQL migration and model

* Integrated postgres with Server and updated adaptors

* Function name update

* Added sample config files for client and server

* Fixes and testing for low level e2e

* make generate

* Fix lint

* Fix for receiving an anonMetricBatch not in server mode

* Postgres test fixes

* Tidy up, make vendor and make generate

* delinting

* Fixing database tests

* Attempted fix of does: cannot open `does' (No such file or directory)
not: cannot open `not' (No such file or directory)
exist: cannot open `exist' (No such file or directory) error on sql resource loas

* Moved all anon metric postgres migration logic and sources into a the protocol/anonmetrics package or sub packages. I don't know if this will fix the does: cannot open `does' (No such file or directory)
not: cannot open `not' (No such file or directory)
exist: cannot open `exist' (No such file or directory) error that happens in Jenkins but this could work

* Lint for the lint god

* Why doesn't the linter list all its problems at once?

* test tweaks

* Fix for wakuV2 change

* DB reset change

* Fix for postgres db migrations fails

* More robust implementation of postgres test setup and teardown

* Added block for anon metrics functionality

* Version Bump to 0.84.0

* Added test to check anon metrics broadcast is deactivated

* Protobufs and adapters

* Added basic anon metric service and config init

* Added new processed field to app metrics table

* Added id column to app metrics table

* Added migration clean up

* Added postgres DB connection, integrated into anonmetrics.Server

* Removed proto_id from SQL migration and model

* Integrated postgres with Server and updated adaptors

* Added sample config files for client and server

* Fix lint

* Fix for receiving an anonMetricBatch not in server mode

* Postgres test fixes

* Tidy up, make vendor and make generate

* Moved all anon metric postgres migration logic and sources into a the protocol/anonmetrics package or sub packages. I don't know if this will fix the does: cannot open `does' (No such file or directory)
not: cannot open `not' (No such file or directory)
exist: cannot open `exist' (No such file or directory) error that happens in Jenkins but this could work

feat: Add edit communities (#2229)
* feat: Add edit communities

Allow Communities to be edited, including display name, description, color, membership, and permissions.

* Added EditCommunity request type

* Fix lint errors

* Allow editing community without changing image

Previously, retaining an existing community image was not possible because the existing community image path had to be provided in the `editCommunity` RPC call to retain the image. However, once the image is processed by status-go, it is encoded as a base64 string and therefore it is not possible to get the original file path back from this string.

This commit allows for the original to be retained by passing an empty string for the image field in the RPC call.

* Don't change permissions. Fixed clock updating

There was an issue in using the `Wallet` flag when checking accounts to

`Wallet` indicates that it's the default wallet, not whether is a wallet

That can only be checked by looking at the type (and the `Wallet` flag).
If the type is `generated`, `key` or `seed` it should be watched for
transactions.

Andrea Maria Piana 435eacecb5 Handle wallet initialization
StartWallet was called before service initialization.
After the recent changes this call was moved after initialization, but
the geth system automatically start services.
This meant that `IsStarted()` returned true, although the reactor was
not started, and only after calling `StopWallet()` and `StartWallet()`
again the system would reach the right state.

This commit changes the behavior so that we only check whether the
reactor has been started when calling `IsStarted()` and we allow
multiple calls to `Start()` on the signal service, which won't return an
error (it's a noop if callled multiple times).

Andrea Maria Piana aa7f591587 Move networking code for waku under `v0` namespace
Why make the change?

As discussed previously, the way we will move across versions is to maintain completely separate
codebases and eventually remove those that are not supported anymore.

This has the drawback of some code duplication, but the advantage is that is more
explicit what each version requires, and changes in one version will not
impact the other, so we won't pile up backward compatible code.
This is the same strategy used by `whisper` in go ethereum and is influenced by
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyLBGkS5ICk .

All the code that is used for the networking protocol is now under `v0/`.
Some of the common parts might still be refactored out.
The main namespace `waku` deals with `host`->`waku` interactions (through RPC),
while `v0` deals with `waku`->`remote-waku` interactions.

In order to support `v1`, the namespace `v0` will be copied over, and changed to
support `v1`. Once `v0` will be not used anymore, the whole namespace will be removed.

This PR does not actually implement `v1`, I'd rather get things looked over to
make sure the structure is what we would like before implementing the changes.

What has changed?

- Moved all code for the common parts under `waku/common/` namespace
- Moved code used for bloomfilters in `waku/common/bloomfilter.go`
- Removed all version specific code from `waku/common/const` (`ProtocolVersion`, status-codes etc)
- Added interfaces for `WakuHost` and `Peer` under `waku/common/protocol.go`

Things still to do

Some tests in `waku/` are still testing by stubbing components of a particular version (`v0`).
I started moving those tests to instead of stubbing using the actual component, which increases
the testing surface. Some other tests that can't be easily ported should be likely moved under
`v0` instead. Ideally no version specif code should be exported from a version namespace (for
example the various codes, as those might change across versions). But this will be a work-in-progress.

Some code that will be common in `v0`/`v1` could still be extract to avoid duplication, and duplicated only
when implementations diverge across versions.

[status-im/status-react#9927] Fast blocks sync after delay
- In order to avoid handling of the reorganized blocks we use an offset
from the latest known block when start listening to new blocks. Before
this commit the offset was 15 blocks for all networks. This offset is
too big for mainnet and causes noticeable delay of marking a transfer as
confirmed in Status (comparing to etherscan). So it was changed to be 5
blocks on mainnet and is still 15 blocks on other networks.
- Also before this commit all new blocks were handled one by one with
network specific interval (10s for mainnet), which means that in case of
lost internet connection or application suspension (happens on iOS)
receiving of new blocks would be paused and then resumed with the same
"speed" - 1 blocks per 10s. In case if that pause is big enough the
application would never catch up with the latest block in the network,
and this also causes the state of transfers to be delayed in the
application. In this commit in case if there was more than 40s delay
after receiving of the previous block the whole history in range between
the previous received block and ("latest"-reorgeSafetyDepth) block is
checked at once and app catches up with a recent state of the chain.

status-im/status-react#9203 Faster tx fetching with less request
*** How it worked before this PR on multiaccount creation:
- On multiacc creation we scanned chain for eth and erc20 transfers. For
each address of a new empty multiaccount this scan required
  1. two `eth_getBalance` requests to find out that there is no any
balance change between zero and the last block, for eth transfers
  2. and `chain-size/100000` (currently ~100) `eth_getLogs` requests,
     for erc20 transfers
- For some reason we scanned an address of the chat account as well, and
also accounts were not deduplicated. So even for an empty multiacc we
scanned chain twice for each chat and main wallet addresses, in result
app had to execute about 400 requests.
- As mentioned above, `eth_getBalance` requests were used to check if
there were any eth transfers, and that caused empty history in case
if user already used all available eth (so that both zero and latest
blocks show 0 eth for an address). There might have been transactions
  but we wouldn't fetch/show them.
- There was no upper limit for the number of rpc requests during the
scan, so it could require indefinite number of requests; the scanning
algorithm was written so that we persisted the whole history of
transactions or tried to scan form the beginning again in case of
failure, giving up only after 10 minutes of failures. In result
addresses with sufficient number of transactions would never be fully
scanned and during these 10 minutes app could use gigabytes of
  internet data.
- Failures were caused by `eth_getBlockByNumber`/`eth_getBlockByHash`
requests. These requests return significantly bigger responses than
`eth_getBalance`/`eth_transactionsCount` and it is likely that
execution of thousands of them in parallel caused failures for
accounts with hundreds of transactions. Even for an account with 12k
we could successfully determine blocks with transaction in a few
minutes using `eth_getBalance` requests, but `eth_getBlock...`
couldn't be processed for this acc.
- There was no caching for for `eth_getBalance` requests, and this
caused in average 3-4 times more such requests than is needed.

*** How it works now on multiaccount creation:
- On multiacc creation we scan chain for last ~30 eth transactions and
then check erc20 in the range where these eth transactions were found.
For an empty address in multiacc this means:
  1. two `eth_getBalance` transactions to determine that there was no
balance change between zero and the last block; two
`eth_transactionsCount` requests to determine there are no outgoing
transactions for this address; total 4 requests for eth transfers
  2. 20 `eth_getLogs` for erc20 transfers. This number can be lowered,
but that's not a big deal
- Deduplication of addresses is added and also we don't scan chat
account, so a new multiacc requires ~25 (we also request latest block
number and probably execute a few other calls) request to determine
that multiacc is empty (comparing to ~400 before)
- In case if address contains transactions we:
  1. determine the range which contains 20-25 outgoing eth/erc20
transactions. This usually requires up to 10 `eth_transactionCount`
     requests
  2. then we scan chain for eth transfers using `eth_getBalance` and
`eth_transactionCount` (for double checking zero balances)
  3. we make sure that we do not scan db for more than 30 blocks with
transfers. That's important for accounts with mostly incoming
transactions, because the range found on the first step might
contain any number of incoming transfers, but only 20-25 outgoing
     transactions
  4. when we found ~30 blocks in a given range, we update initial
range `from` block using the oldest found block
  5. and now we scan db for erc20transfers using `eth_getLogs`
`oldest-found-eth-block`-`latest-block`, we make not more than 20 calls
  6. when all blocks which contain incoming/outgoing transfers for a
given address are found, we save these blocks to db and mark that
transfers from these blocks are still to be fetched
  7. Then we select latest ~30 (the number can be adjusted) blocks from
these which were found and fetch transfers, this requires 3-4
     requests per transfer.
  8. we persist scanned range so that we know were to start next time
  9. we dispatch an event which tells client that transactions are found
  10. client fetches latest 20 transfers
- when user presses "fetch more" button we check if app's db contains next
20 transfers, if not we scan chain again and return transfers after

Replace address with keyUid in accounts db
Account's address was used as a primary key in accounts db and as a
deterministic id of an account in some API calls. Also it was used as a
part of the name of the account specific database. This revealed some
extra information about the account and wasn't necessary.
At first the hash of the address was planned to be used as a
deterministic id, but we already have a keyUid which is calculated as
sha256 hash of account's public key and has similar properties:
- it is deterministic
- doesn't reveal accounts public key or address in plain

* Remove dedup from services/shhext. Because now we process in status-protocol, dedup makes less sense, as those messages are going to be processed anyway, so removing for now, we can re-evaluate if bringing it to status-go or not.

* Change the various retrieveX method to a single one:
`RetrieveAll` will be processing those messages that it can process (Currently only `Message`), and return the rest in `RawMessages` (still transit). The format for the response is:
`Chats`: -> The chats updated by receiving the message
`Messages`: -> The messages retrieved (already matched to a chat)
`Contacts`: -> The contacts updated by the messages
`RawMessages` -> Anything else that can't be parsed, eventually as we move everything to status-protocol-go this will go away.

Andrea Maria Piana cef7f367ab Add topic negotiation
This commit add topic negotiation to the protocol.

On receiving a message from a client with version >= 1, we will generate
a shared key using Diffie-Hellman. We will record also which
installationID has sent us a message.

This key will be passed back to the above layer, which will then use to
start listening to a whisper topic (the `chat` namespace has no
knowledge of whisper).

When sending a message to a set of InstallationIDs, we check whether we
have agreed on a topic with all of them, and if so, we will send on this
separate topic, otherwise we fallback on discovery.

This change is backward compatible, as long as there is no downgrade of
the app on the other side.

A few changes:

* Factored out the DB in a separate namespace as now it is
being used by multiple services (TopicService and EncryptionService).

* Factored out multidevice management in a separate namespace

* Moved all the test to test the whole protoocl rather than just the encryption service

* Moved all the filter management in status-go

Fix channel subscriber that was blocking sending new requests (#1465)
In RequestMessagesSync subscriber is listening to a feed where all whisper
events are posted. After we received event with a request hash - subscriber will
stop actively consuming messages from a feed, as a subscription channel will
get overflow and whole feed will get blocked.

Some events are posted to a feed before request is sent, so blocked feed results
in blocked sending.

Now we will unsubscribe after relevant event was received, and terminate subscriber
explicitly by timeout.

As part of a performance profiling of mailserver we noticed that most of
the resources on a query are spend decoding the whisper envelope.
This PR changes the way we store envelopes encoding the Topic into the
database key, so we can check that and we are able to publish the
envelope rawValue if it matches.
The change is backward compatible as only newly added envelopes will
have the new key, while old ones will have to be unmarshaled.

1) Add a call GetContactCode to check whether we have a bundle for a

2) Add a DH flag to the API (non-breaking change), for those messages
that we want to target all devices (contact-requests for example).

3) Fixes a few small issues with installations, namely if for example a
messages is sent without a bundle (currently not done by any client),
we still infer installation info, so that we can communicate securely
and making it truly optional.

Persist selected mail server using separate monitor (#1303)
This change allows to connect to the mail server that we were using before the app was restarted. Separate loop is listening for whisper events, and when we receive event that request was completed we will update time on a peer record.

Records are stored in leveldb. Body of the record is marshaled using json. At this point the only field is a timestamp when record was used.

This loop doesn't control connections, it only tracks what mail server we ended up using. It works asynchronously to connection management loop. Which tracks events that are related to connection state and expiry of the requests.

When app starts we look into the database and select the most recently used record. This record is added to connection management loop first. So if this server is available we will stick to using it. If we weren't able to connect to the same server in configured timeout (5s) we will try to connect to any other server from list of active servers.

In previous change i used same filtering for a handler that processes confirmations.
But if we are connected with peers that do not support confirmations on whisper level,
whisper may send "Sent" event when envelope is written to a socket. This is our old behaviour.

So, this PR allows to use confirmations from a mail servers and ensure that transition between
multiple version of peers will be smooth.

Mail peer store and connection manager (#1295)
This change implements connection manager that monitors 3 types of events:
1. update of the selected mail servers
2. disconnect from a mail server
3. errors for requesting mail history

When selected mail servers provided we will try to connect with as many as possible, and later disconnect the surplus. For example if we want to connect with one mail server and 3 were selected, we try to connect with all (3), and later disconnect with 2. It will to establish connection with live mail server faster.

If mail server disconnects we will choose any other mail server from the list of selected. Unless we have only one mail server. In such case we don't have any other choice and we will leave things as is.

If request for history was expired we will disconnect such peer and try to find another one. We will follow same rules as described above.

We will have two components that will rely on this logic:
1. requesting history

If target peer is provided we will use that peer, otherwise we will request history from any selected mail server that is connected at the time of request.

2. confirmation from selected mail server

Confirmation from any selected mail server will bee used to send a feedback that envelope was sent.

I will add several extensions, but probably in separate PRs:
1. prioritize connection with mail server that was used before reboot
2. disconnect from mail servers if history request wasn't expired but failed.
3. wait some time in RequestsMessage RPC to establish connection with any mail server

Currently this feature is hidden, as certain changes will be necessary in status-react.

Upgrade geth 1.8.17 plus add metrics during compilation time (#1273)
This commit updates geth to 1.8.17 and adds a possibility to enable metrics during compilation time.

Add enabling/disabling of installations (#1264)
This commit adds a list new table, installations, which is used to keep
track of which installation are active for a given identity key.

In general, we limit the number of installation that we keep
synchronized to 5, to avoid excessive usage of resources.

Any installation coming from our own identity, will have to be manually
enabled, otherwise we trust the other peer has correctly paired their
devices.

We use a timestamp to decide which installations to keep synchronized as
a logical clock would have make the creation of the bundle more
complicated, but this can always be converted to a logical clock at
later stages without breaking compatibility.

Change handling of skipped/deleted keys & add version (#1261)
- Skipped keys

The purpose of limiting the number of skipped keys generated is to avoid a dos
attack whereby an attacker would send a large N, forcing the device to
compute all the keys between currentN..N .

Previously the logic for handling skipped keys was:

- If in the current receiving chain there are more than maxSkip keys,
throw an error

This is problematic as in long-lived session dropped/unreceived messages starts
piling up, eventually reaching the threshold (1000 dropped/unreceived
messages).

This logic has been changed to be more inline with signals spec, and now
it is:

- If N is > currentN + maxSkip, throw an error

The purpose of limiting the number of skipped keys stored is to avoid a dos
attack whereby an attacker would force us to store a large number of
keys, filling up our storage.

Previously the logic for handling old keys was:

- Once you have maxKeep ratchet steps, delete any key from
currentRatchet - maxKeep.

This, in combination with the maxSkip implementation, capped the number of stored keys to
maxSkip * maxKeep.

The logic has been changed to:

- Keep a maximum of MaxMessageKeysPerSession

and additionally we delete any key that has a sequence number <
currentSeqNum - maxKeep

- Version

We check now the version of the bundle so that when we get a bundle from
the same installationID with a higher version, we mark the previous
bundle as expired and use the new bundle the next time a message is sent

Make whisper tolerant to local time skews (#864)
This change adds adds an ability to use different source of time for whisper:

when envelope is created it is used to set expiry
to track when envelope needs to be expired
This time is then used to check validity of the envelope when it is received. Currently If we receive an envelope that is sent from future - peer will get disconnected. If envelope that was received has an expiry less then now it will be simply dropped, if expiry is less than now + 10*2 seconds peer will get dropped.

So, it is clear that whisper depends on time. And any time we get a skew with peers that is > 20s reliability will be grealy reduced.

In this change another source of time for whisper will be used. This time source will use ntp servers from pool.ntp.org to compute offset. When whisper queries time - this offset will be added/substracted from current time.

Query is executed every 2 mins, queries 5 different servers, cut offs min and max and the computes mean value. pool.ntp.org is resolved to different servers and according to documentation you will rarely hit the same.
