Speed up account ledger a little (#2279)
`persist` is a hotspot when processing blocks because it is run at least
once per transaction and loops over the entire account cache every time.

Here, we introduce an extra `dirty` map that keeps track of all accounts
that need checking during `persist` which fixes the immediate
inefficiency, though probably this could benefit from a more thorough
review - we also get rid of the unused clearCache flag - we start with
a fresh cache on every fresh vmState.

* avoid unnecessary code hash comparisons
* avoid unnecessary copies when iterating
* use EMPTY_CODE_HASH throughout for code hash comparison

import: read from era files (#2254)
This PR extends the `nimbus import` command to also allow reading from
era files - this command allows creating or topping up an existing
database with data coming from era files instead of network sync.

* add `--era1-dir` and `--max-blocks` options to command line
* make `persistBlocks` report basic stats like transactions and gas
* improve error reporting in several API
* allow importing multiple RLP files in one go
* clean up logging options to match nimbus-eth2
* make sure database is closed properly on shutdown

Introduce wrapper type for EIP-4844 transactions (#2177)
* Introduce wrapper type for EIP-4844 transactions

EIP-4844 blob sidecars are a concept that only exists in the mempool.
After inclusion of a transaction into an execution block, only the
versioned hash within the transaction remains. To improve type safety,
replace the `Transaction.networkPayload` member with a wrapper type
`PooledTransaction` that is used in contexts where blob sidecars exist.

Core db+aristo fixes and tx handling updates (#2164)
* Aristo: Rename journal related sources and functions

why:
  Previously, the naming was hinged on the phrases `fifo`, `filter` etc.
  which reflect the inner workings of cascaded filters. This was
  unfortunate for reading/understanding the source code for actions where
  the focus is the journal as a whole.

* Aristo: Fix buffer overflow (path length truncating error)

* Aristo: Tighten `hikeUp()` stop check, update error code

why:
  Detect dangling vertex links. These are legit with `snap` sync
  processing but not with regular processing.

* Aristo: Raise assert in regular mode `merge()` at a dangling link/edge

why:
  With `snap` sync processing, partial trees are ok and can be amended.
  Not so in regular mode.

  Previously there was only a debug message when a non-legit dangling edge
  was encountered.

* Aristo: Make sure that vertices are copied before modification

why:
  Otherwise vertices from lower layers might also be modified

* Aristo: Fix relaxed mode for validity checker `check()`

  DBMS backend access Was provided very early and over engineered. Now
  there are only two backend machines, one for `Kvt` and the other one

* CoreDb: Refactor/redefine `persistent()` methods

why:
  There were `persistent()` methods for any type of caching storage
  facilities `Kvt`, `Mpt`, `Phk`, and `Acc`. Now there is only a single
  `persistent()` method storing all facilities in tandem (similar to
  how transactions work.)

  For non shared `Kvt` tables, there is now an extra storage method
  `saveOffSite()`.

* CoreDb lingo update: `trie` becomes `column`

why:
  Notion of a `trie` is pretty much hidden by the new `CoreDb` api.
  Revealed are sort of database columns for accounts an storage data,
  any of which have an internal state represented by a Keccack hash.
  So a `trie` or `MPT` becomes a `column` and a `rootHash` becomes a
  column state.

* Aristo: rename backend filed `filters` => `journal`

  which disables the `in` operator on non-boolean 	`contains()` functions

  Ethereum MPTs use Keccak hashes as node links if the size of an RLP
  encoded node is at least 32 bytes. Otherwise, the RLP encoded node
  value is used as a pseudo node link (rather than a hash.) Such a node
  is nor stored on key-value database. Rather the RLP encoded node value
  is stored instead of a lode link in a parent node instead. Only for
  the root hash, the top level node is always referred to by the hash.

  This feature needed an abstraction of the `HashKey` object which is now
  either a hash or a blob of length at most 31 bytes. This leaves two
  ways of representing an empty/void `HashKey` type, either as an empty
  blob of zero length, or the hash of an empty blob.

* Update `CoreDb` interface (mainly reducing logger noise)

why:
  Name is a pen picture of what this object is for. Also, it avoids the
  ubiquitous term `key`.

* Provided `getOrVoid()` wrapper for `getOrDefault()`

also:
  Provide `isValid()` syntactic sugar for `.isNil.not`, `!= 0` etc.
  Reorg descriptor source, split into sub-sources

* Bundled `NodeKey` objects with root ID and called it `HashLabel`

why:
  `NodeKey` (aka repurposed Hash265) objects are unique only within a
  particular sub-trie (e.g. storage slots) which are kept separated
  (i.e non-interleaved) by design. This is not applied to the backend
  as the map VertexID->NodeKey labelling the nodes needs not be injective.

  For the in-memory database (transaction) layers, the injective map
  VertexID->(VertexID,NodeKey) is used where the first field of the image
  tuple is the root ID of the sub-trie the `NodeKey` object is valid. So
  identical storage tries for different accounts can be represented.

  beacon node headers can be processed regardless. Normal (aka strict)

  The pool mode allows to loop over active peers one after another. This
  is ideal for soft re-starting peers. As this is a two tier experience
  (start/stop, setup/release) the loop must be run twice. This is
  controlled by a more rigid re-definition of how to use the `poolMode`
  flag.

why:
  Currently, serialising the `BlockBody` in not conevrtible and need
  to be checked in the `eth` module. Currently a local fix for the

  together with the `zombie` state flag. A degraded peer is dropped

why:
  Proof nodes are traded as `Blob` type items rather than Nim objects. So
  the RLP transcoder must not extra wrap proofs which are of type
  seq[Blob]. Without custom encoding one would produce a
  `list(blob(item1), blob(item2) ..)` instead of `list(item1, item2 ..)`.

* Limit leaf extractor by RLP size rather than number of items

why:
  To be used serving `snap/1` requests, the result of function
  `hexaryRangeLeafsProof()` is limited by the maximal space
  needed to serialise the result which will be part of the
  `snap/1` repsonse.

* Let the range extractor `hexaryRangeLeafsProof()` return RLP list sizes

why:
  When collecting accounts, the size oft the accounts list when encoded
  as RLP is continually updated. So the summed up value is available

Snap sync refactor accounts healing (#1392)
* Relocated mothballing (i.e. swap-in preparation) logic

details:
  Mothballing was previously tested & started after downloading
  account ranges in `range_fetch_accounts`.

  Whenever current download or healing stops because of a pivot change,
  swap-in preparation is needed (otherwise some storage slots may get
  lost when swap-in takes place.)

  Also, `execSnapSyncAction()` has been moved back to `pivot_helper`.

* Reorganised source file directories

details:
  Grouped pivot focused modules into `pivot` directory

* Renamed `checkNodes`, `sickSubTries` as `nodes.check`, `nodes.missing`

why:
  Both lists are typically used together as pair. Renaming `sickSubTries`
  reflects moving away from a healing centric view towards a swap-in
  attitude.

* Multi times coverage recording

details:
  Per pivot account ranges are accumulated into coverage range set. This
  set fill eventually contain a singe range of account hashes [0..2^256]
  which amounts to 100% capacity.

  A counter has been added that is incremented whenever max capacity is
  reached. The accumulated range is then reset to empty.

  The effect of this setting is that the coverage can be evenly duplicated.
  So 200% would not accumulate on a particular region.

* Update range length comparisons (mod 2^256)

why:
  A range interval can have sizes 1..2^256 as it cannot be empty by
  definition. The number of points in a range intervals set can have
  0..2^256 points. As the scalar range is a residue class modulo 2^256,
  the residue class 0 means length 2^256 for a range interval, but can
  be 0 or 2^256 for the number of points in a range intervals set.

* Generalised `hexaryEnvelopeDecompose()`

details:
  Compile the complement of the union of some (processed) intervals and
  express this complement as a list of envelopes of sub-tries.

  This facility is directly applicable to swap-in book-keeping.

* Re-factor `swapIn()`

why:
  Good idea but baloney implementation. The main algorithm is based on
  the generalised version of `hexaryEnvelopeDecompose()` which has been
  derived from this implementation.

* Refactor `healAccounts()` using `hexaryEnvelopeDecompose()` as main driver

why:
  Previously, the hexary trie was searched recursively for dangling nodes
  which has a poor worst case performance already when the trie  is
  reasonably populated.

  The function `hexaryEnvelopeDecompose()` is a magnitude faster because
  it does not peruse existing sub-tries in order to find missing nodes
  although result is not fully compatible with the previous function.

  So recursive search is used in a limited mode only when the decomposer
  will not deliver a useful result.

* Logging & maintenance fixes

details:
  Preparation for abandoning buddy-global healing variables `node`,
  `resumeCtx`, and `lockTriePerusal`. These variable are trie-perusal
  centric which will be run on the back burner in favour of
  `hexaryEnvelopeDecompose()` which is used for accounts healing already.

why:
  Happened when the `block_queue` module was separated out of
  the `worker` module. Somehow testing was insufficient or skipped,
  at all.

details:
  Could be simplified

* Dynamically adapt pivot header negotiation mode

details:
  After accepting one peer and some timeout, do not search for more
  peers for start syncing but rather continue in relaxed mode with a
  single peer.

Etan Kissling 22338b7870 bump `nim-eth` for `eip4844` support
The `BlockHeader` structure in `nim-eth` was updated with support for
EIP-4844 (danksharding). To enable the `nim-eth` bump, the ingress of
`BlockHeader` structures has been hardened to reject headers that have
the new `excessDataGas` field until proper EIP4844 support exists.
